WRITER
I am a queer Jewish woman, a triumvirate of underrepresented perspectives.
In my writing, I use wit and sarcasm to mine joy from trauma — it is an integral piece of my voice — this modality is also what makes my voice so specifically Jewish. Jewish comedy came from the need to uplift and find joy out of the grief and trauma of a people. This to me is the truth of what is means to be Jewish, female, and queer. My perspective, however, is not only centered in trauma. It is the active pull towards the wisdom on the other side. It is about hope, light, connection, and self-knowledge..
Writing is my cultural inheritance and my duty. I am compelled to honor my lineage by continuing to find ways to use our pain — both the personal and communal — to tell the stories of my people with authenticity and love, in the hopes that it will bring joy, empathy and maybe if I get it right, catharsis, to an audience.
